Description Stereogum is a New York City-based Web site and blog that covers the music industry. It was founded by Editor-in-Chief Scott Lapatine in 2003. Although Stereogum's coverage fairly New York-centric, the city is not the blog's express focus. Stereogum is frequently updated, though weekend reports are rare. The Gum Drop is Stereogum's weekly e-mail newsletter. Stereogum is primarily funded by private investment group, Pilot Group.

Content
Stereogum's content is divided into videos, concert reviews, tour dates, free MP3s, giveaways and general postings. Most content is geared to indie rock fans, though artists from other genres with solid Internet buzz and celebrity musicians receive moderate attention. In addition to its own content, Stereogum has an extensive and prominently featured list of external music blog links.

Stereogum also has numerous weekly columns, including Bands to Watch, Video Hangover and Quit Your Dayjob. The site's has numerous year-end lists, including traditional best-of compilations and other awards.

Recently, Stereogum has begun digitally releasing cover albums. These cover albums feature indie bands covering critically acclaimed records in full. Radiohead's OK Computer and REM's Automatic For People are two of the available cover albums.
